16+ Hours Vs. 2 Hours - De-sludging the problematic Dodge Ram heater core. Nobody does it this way!

This is a very problematic job. I've developed a technique to get the heater core running nice and hot without removing half the trucks interior and the air conditioning system. With jobs I do over and over I create these "labor clusters" in my QuickBooks lists function. Super helpful when you need to write invoices for the same job over and over again. on the invoices. I'm going to paste the labor cluster it'll give you an idea of the strategy of the job.... Job #3 -Large deposit of sludge sits in bottom of heater core and can not be flushed out with traditional radiator flush and techniques -Heater core sits like way below the hot water inlet and outlet almost like a Christmas tree ornament. -Technician had to use a different technique to get sludge out of heater core -Isolate heater core inlet and outlet tubes from rest of vehicle cooling system -Install circulating water pump de-scaler in closed loop with heater core -Prepare a 5 gallon bucket with cleaning solution and water -Install electric water heater in 5 gallon bucket to bring cleaning solution up to boiling temperature -Submerge circulating pump in heated cleaning solution -Install in series with rest of circulating loop an air/water blast gun -Continuously circulate boiling cleaning solution between bucket and heater core for multiple hours -Every 15 minutes or so as the sludge on the bottom of the heater core heats up and begins to loosen, blast with air water gun to vomit out sludge -Repeat blasting process every 15 minuets or so, for a few hours, until no more sludge is evacuated from heater core -Install fresh water hose and rinse, heater core and entire loop of all cleaning solution -Disassemble loop and pack up kit
