So I guess I am batting around .500 with my Texa Diesel Laptop diagnostic software package. So many of the rare applications it will be hit or miss if I can professionally diagnose and repair the equipment. I think perhaps I am doing something wrong but I can't call them because I don't want to pay $3,500 to $5,000 per year to stay current with all the updates and have access to tech support. My understanding is alot more nifty things come with that subscription but I am just a lonely single mechanic in a truck and can't validate such an expense. Perhaps in a shop, but the laptop only gets pulled out of case, maybe once every two weeks as it is and to be paying such a high price tag isn't realistic. Their response will be something like, "yea but try some of the other software platforms that claw the software back if you don't update." This is true, they don't take it away which now days is a rare kind act, but it's still frustrating when I can't properly diagnose a piece of equipment because the software won't communicate with the platform. Furthermore can you imagine how much more difficult it is to charge for a wasted three hours when one drove an hour and a half to get to the job site?? Only to find out that the laptop won't communicate with the platform??
